T’gana led caste census chorus with Samagra Kutumba Survey 9 yrs ago
The Telangana government conducted the Samagra Kutumba Survey (SKS) in 2014, which revealed that BCs were the largest group in the state at 51%. Although the findings were not made public due to legal cases, the data was used by government departments to develop welfare schemes and identify beneficiaries. The government is now struggling to conduct a BC survey for reservations in local bodies. Despite having the data, the government is demanding a caste census by the central government. The SKS data was used to design various schemes for the poor, such as Rythu Bandhu and pension hikes.
