Hyd customs incinerate drugs worth Rs 468 crore
Customs officials in Hyderabad have destroyed 216.6 kg of narcotic substances worth 468 crore that were seized in recent operations. The authorities also destroyed 40 lakh smuggled cigarette sticks seized from passengers at the airport. The drugs, including heroin and mephedrone, were seized from drug carriers from Nigeria, Benin, Tanzania, and South Africa, as well as local peddlers. The accused had used various methods to smuggle the contraband, including hiding them in checked baggage and concealing them in body cavities. The destroyed substances were incinerated at a waste management project.
