At 50%, Chamarajanagar & Mysuru dists have jumbo share of elephants
Half of Karnataka’s elephant population has been found in just two south interior districts of Chamarajanagar and Mysuru. While Chamarajanagar with two tiger reserves and two wildlife sanctuaries has 2,441 elephants, adjoining Mysuru district has 831 jumbos, as per the synchronised survey of elephants’ estimation held in May 2023.
