As protests erupt, Cong under pressure to change candidates
The Congress leadership in New Delhi is facing pressure to change candidates in over a dozen seats announced in the first and second lists. Some senior leaders have written to AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge to replace candidates, while others have taken to protests. P Vishnuvardhan Reddy, a former MLA from Jubilee Hills, has already quit the party. The Congress has picked candidates for 100 out of the total 119 assembly seats, leading to discontent among party loyalists who feel sidelined. There is a possibility of changes being made in the second list in Telangana.
