Season’s hottest: 40°C at Delhi's Safdarjung
The city recorded the hottest day of the season as the maximum temperature at Safdarjung, the city’s base weather station, touched 40 degrees Celsius, five degrees above normal. Some parts of the capital have been witnessing heatwave conditions for the past 10 days with the temperature hovering around 40-42 degrees Celsius, but Thursday was the first day when Safdarjung logged a temperature described by India Meteorological Department as a heatwave.
