Over 5,000 kids in Maharashtra live on streets: Survey
State women and child development minister Yashomati Thakur told the state assembly on Wednesday that a survey by the National Committee for Protection of Child Rights, which began in November 2021, had found that 5,153 children in the state live on the streets with their families, and only 1,266 are able to sleep in a shelter at night.
