Guidelines pending, the state government has announced a new programme for the general public and private institutions to adopt a cow housed in rescue shelters for an annual sum of Rs 11,000. ‘Punyakoti Dattu Yojane’ will seek to help gaushalas (cow shelters) across the state maintain and feed rescued cows, oxen and buffaloes.
