No defamation in case of fair reporting of FIR: Bombay HC
Quashing criminal proceedings initiated over a news report on registration of an FIR (first information report), the Nagpur bench of the Bombay high court has held that "fair reporting of the information, which is brought in public domain-news item containing a statement of facts-may not attract action for defamation''.
