Delhi govt to spend 20 times more on welfare of workers
The Delhi government plans to expand its network and increase its expenditure on welfare schemes for registered construction workers. Last year, only a fraction of the applications received were processed and the government spent Rs 12.66 crore. This year, the government aims to spend Rs 246.25 crore on various welfare programs, including financial assistance, subsidised housing, skill training, and free coaching for children. The government also plans to increase the number of registered construction workers to 15 lakh and has set up special registration camps and mobile vans for the registration process.
